Even a stone cold veteran of the club wars, like Mr C, must feel a cool breeze blowing somewhere below his knees when he considers taking on a weekly party at DC10. Fellow Londoner Damien Lazarus and Kompakt boss Michael Mayer (as solid a double act as you'll find in the world of forward thinking electronica) had to pack in Stink's DC10 residency halfway through last season, so there's clearly work to be done. If success at DC10 were merely a matter of a sexy line-up then Stink should have been covered in glory. But it wasn't. The question is: can Superfreq soar where others flopped?
Mr C clearly thinks so, or he wouldn't have taken it on (he's an adventurer, by all accounts, but not reportedly a gambler). What gives Superfreq the edge – and an honest shot at filling the footsteps of Timo Mass' departed Wednesday night bash – is that Superfreq has three good years on the island behind it. At its old home, Underground, it became a byword for what was good in, er, underground music, and it drew a loyal crowd despite little promotion. The relationship with Underground broke down, though, and Mr C reckons DC10 is the only other club on the island that "gets" the Superfreq vibe. Which, for the uninitiated, is one of (in its London home at least) of unashamed Sunday night hedonism bolstered by a strong sense of community. As in London, the Ibiza party will encourage repeat visits and a sense of family by offering discounted admission for members – a mere €10.
The price looks like even more of a bargain when you skim the DJ line up. Mr C and Dollz At Play (aka Mrs Mr C, Xochitl, and her partner-in-fashion-crime Bea) are anchoring the line up as residents, but they've invited a tasty selection of electronic boffins to help the party along. Fans of Get Physical will be well served all summer, with DJ T and M.A.N.D.Y. guesting at the first two parties, respectively, and honorary Physical man Konrad Black (he lives with Philipp from M.A.N.D.Y., which should count) dropping by to spin some filth on the 12 th of September.
Between there are nights which have a whiff of can't miss - Martin Landsky on 25th July should be a belter, as should Phonique and Jamie Jones playing on the 29th of August, and there is the tempting pairing of Jennifer Cardini and Miss Jools on 1st August. You'd be excused for missing out the 15th of August (which features Layo & Bushwacka!) for feeling a little bit too much like a night at The End, and there's more keeping-it-in-the-family (thought not in a bad way) at the closing party on 19th September, starring Mr C's production partner Adultnapper and Alexi Delano.
All told, there's nothing to say Superfreq won't be a roaring success: it's done the coalface work in Ibiza - building up a niche and a following - and it has the line-ups to back that up. But in Ibiza nothing is certain, and the strange alchemy of clubland changes almost with the wind... here's hoping for fair weather for Superfreq.

Meganite ‘Electronic Music Lifestyle’ - the potent techno affair hosted by Mauro Picotto, returns to Privilege for what promises to be yet another season of relentless electronic abandonment.
Mauro Picotto – aka The Lizard Man - took Meganite to Ibiza in 2004, transforming the cavernous Privilege into an intimate techno paradise for those who like their music raw, tough and undiluted. The night became one of the most successful debut parties on the island.
And as Meganite enter their fourth season in Ibiza, these parties still possess the same passion and energy as they did then, which can be credited to a commitment to playing beautiful electronic music - designed to create the atmosphere enjoyed by clubbers from across the world.
Already one of the bigger events in the Ibiza party calendar, Picotto and Co will be looking to build even further on the success of last year. To help achieve this, he has enlisted the top dj talent of Misstress Barbara, Christian Smith, Marco Carola, Gabry Fasano, Paco Osuna, Marco Bailey, Deetron, Adam Beyer and electro master, John Acquaviva.

On Tuesday 17 July, the legend that is Carl Cox makes his much anticipated return to Space, following a hugely successful 2006 in Ibiza. A season so eventful that it won the coveted 'Best Ibiza Club Night' at the Ibiza DJ awards.
Of course, when you combine one of the biggest, and most amiable, names in dance with arguably the best club in the world, Space, you can expect something a little special.
And special it is too - Carl Cox simply loves to dj and perform to a crowd, while his enthusiasm and love for music is contagious. When he's enjoying himself, then rest assured - the crowd are in for a treat.
And who can resist those pearly whites beaming at you from inside the dj booth !
However, one of the keys to success for Carl Cox at Space has been the prospect of a mouth watering dj line-up to support the big man himself.
And this year sees one of the strongest and most adventurous line ups yet, with guest appearances from Fedde Le Grand, Danny Tenaglia, John Digweed, Gilles Peterson, Laurent Garnier, Goldie, Fatboy Slim, Josh Wink and Detroit techno pioneer Derrick May.
Predominently a techno night but touching on other genres, such as drum and bass, the diverse line up goes some way to suggest that the King of Clubs will continue to electrify and impress everyone again in 2007.
Make sure you get down to Space this season to enjoy the Carl Cox experience for yourself...
