Getting a taxi .........how much should it cost ?
Ibiza Airport lies 7.5kms from Ibiza Town and all the "Official" Taxis are now on a meter, the charges are set within the following guidelines:

Minimum fare €2.80 ; 0.82 per km daytime trip, (from 06.00 to 21.00); €1.12 per kilometre night time trip, (from 21.00 to 06.00); port or airport supplement €1,40; telephone call supplement, 1 €. The technical side:
The legal age-limit to buy alcohol is now 18, tobacco is 16
Officially you have to be 18 to get into the clubs.
It is illegal to drink alcohol walking on the streets.

Possession of drugs:
The situation in Spain is a confused one. Although in 1992 a law has strictly regulated the use of drugs in public places (no smoking spliffs on the beach), it is not considered a crime, and therefore there can be no jail sentences. In Spain personal possession of any drug is not a criminal offence. However, read the following extract from The Ibiza Sun:
'One British youth was sentenced this week to 3 years imprisonment and heavily fined after being caught with 6 ecstasy tablets and 20.000 Pts in cash' (October 2000)

The line between 'personal' and 'dealing' is a very thin one. Be sensible.

Dirty Pretty Things, Editors and We Are Scientists are among the acts confirmed for this year's Ibiza Rocks festival.
The acts, along with The Streets Soundsystem and Boy Kill Boy, are all set to play in July at Manumission's Bar M, which is based in the resort of San Antonio.

Among the DJs will be BBC Radio 1 and MTV2's Zane Lowe, and Xfm's Eddy Temple Morris.
There will be other gigs in August and September, with the line-up to be announced later date.
Ibiza Rocks will also be visiting the UK this month. Zane Lowe and Eddy Temple Morris will be hosting the tour in various cities, showcasing the best in new music and promising "a special Manumission twist".

Ibiza has some of the most magnificent beaches in the Mediterranean. Most people think of Ibiza as a party island. Well if you take the time to drive around the island, you will discover some excellent and almost deserted beaches.
Most of the quieter beaches can be found in the north of the island. Try visiting Xarracca , Rencli de S'illot or Xuclar. When I visited these beaches at the beginning of the season there were only one or two people on them. Have a look at the Xarracca pictures and you will see what I mean.
Cala Vadella (near Es Vedra ) is a really nice bay, it's closed off from the sea, so if you can't handle heat keep away from here. The water is completely calm and crystal clear, ideal for snorkling or diving. You can hire jet skis, pedaloes, relax and have a massage or go for a snack or meal at one of the excellent restuarants. Sundays here is particularly busy and parking can be a problem, but worth the effort. If you are a strong swimmer, it is possible to swim to Es Vedra
If you don't have access to a car and are in San Antonio, go down to the marina and take boats to Cala Bassa or Cala Conta , both of these beaches are excellent for families, as the water is very shallow for a long way out and is usually very calm. Cala Conta is the better of the two, but the boats do not go there on Sundays.
San Antonios' beaches are not really up to much, thought they were rebuilt earlier in the season, but if you don't have time to go anywhere else, they will do. Try get a space in front of Itaca, next door to Bar M and when the sun goes down, you can pop in for a meal. The prices are very good and their standards are very high. You can get two meals including a drink for under 15€ / £10.
Cala Salada is very popular with locals on Sundays and the restaurant here is usually busy, it's not the least expensive, but again, the standard is very good.

The Balearic Government's Health Minister, Aina Castillo, carried out a practical demonstration in Eivissa of how the new, pioneering, electronic prescription system is now working on the island. Costing 1.5 million€ & incorporating 40 chemists on the island, ill persons on the Pitiuses will be able to get prescriptions by presenting their health card to the chemists rather than getting a paper prescription from the doctor. This will particularly benefit over 2000 chronically sick persons who need repeat prescriptions as they will not have to go so often to see their doctor just to get their repeat prescriptions once the their illness has initially diagnosed & the treatment prescribed & recorded in a central data bank. This information will be then accessed when the patient presents their health card at the chemists with the health card acting in a similar way to a credit card & showing what medicines the patient needs & when they were last issued.
